8th grade football ended their season last night on the road in a pick up game with the undefeated Crawford Pirates. The boys battled hard, but a couple of turnovers, and penalties really killed the momentum when the'Cats had it. The Bearcats fell to the Pirates in a cold and wet game.
This season we had 2 seventh grade boys play the entire season with 8th grade, and a third joined them for their last game. A special shoutout to those young men, Juvenall Sanchez, Jacob McNiel, and Mario Salas. Captains for this year were Ryder Hohhertz, Sonny Carnevale, and Owen Watson. These young men were exceptional leaders to their team, not only on the field, but in the weight room and film sessions.
If you see any of your middle school football players, congratulate them on a year well done. We will see everyone again for basketball season, with the first game being next week!
The 7th Grade Football Team came out against the 7th/8th grade combo team of Itasca yesterday afternoon with an unfortunate loss. The 7th graders came out sluggish against what seemed to be the Itasca 8th grade team and got down 32-6 in the first half.
The second half Itasca played majority of their 7th grade team and The Bearcats started to show the team they have been playing like the last couple of weeks. The final score ended at 48-26. Anthony Medrano had all 4 TD's (2 on Special Teams and 2 on offense.)
These boys have improved tremendously this season, and for most of the kids this was their first season playing football. I am looking forward to offseason to keep helping these athletes improve. Next season should be a fun one with this group!
